The Classy Closet

Hi girls,
I just bought the most fabulous boots. But each fall, when I go boot shopping (because I HAVE to go every year) I'm faced with the same problem...my calves. My calves are let's say....BIG. So, when I buy boots that zip up, I have to buy a larger size boot so that the zipper can fit around my calves. That really sucks because my boots are always too big. So, what's a girl to do? I just love knee high boots, but all the ones I really like have zippers on the side. So, should I just but a larger size and go clunking around like a dufus, or should I sufficate my poor calves in boots that are too tight?

I also go through a boot dilemma. My calves are well like Olive Oils...lol! My boots always look like they are drowning my sticks aka legs!

I know Jennifer Margolin will have a great tip for us!

Have you tried boots that you can stretch over your leg? I found a pair of Sergio Rossi's a few years back that are a soft leather on top of a stretch boot so I just pull them on. I would recommend finding a great cobbler in your area and bringing in your boots. If they are good they may be able to open up the back seam and put some elastic to give with your leg. If that doesn't work for you, look for boots that you have the option to slouch down and this will give more room for your leg.

Jen, I'd try the stretch boot for you as well as it'll take shape to your leg so you don't have to "fill" out a thicker leather boot thus giving the illusion of "Olive Oil" legs! That's a classic description by the way!

Jennifer, you are so smart! Why didn't I think of going to a cobbler? I just took a pair of heels to him a few weeks ago to get fixed. I'm going to take my boots. Thanks so much!

Be on the lookout because some boots have a bit of elastic in them near the zipper. Those are the only tall ones I can wear. Otherwise, I have to just go shorter. blah

Thanks Stefany. I'll keep that in mind. Although I don't mind the ankle boots either.
