The Classy Closet

I used to think they were nothing more than a kid leash. I guess in a sense they are, but is there a limit to what we can for safety?

I feel almost embarrassed to use one, so I'd love some opinions. Even more so feedback if you've used one.

I know the Eddie Bauer animal ones look better, since they look less like a leash and more like a backpack w/ handle. I would be using one like that.

I ask because this summer I may fly to see family out of state. I'd be going with just my 2 boys, ages 5 and 2. My hubby can't go, and doing all of that w/ the kids solo makes me nervous.

Thank you! I really appreciate your feedback.
I can imagine the looks, but those people glaring are NOT the ones responsible for my kids & their safety. And if the child is happier, why not?
I certainly wouldn't plan to use it all the time, but situations like the airport, I'm willing.

Thanks again!

I think that if you can't control your child enough in public that you need to put a leash on them.... you shouldn't take them in public. Use a stroller if you're worried about your kiddos running off. Airlines let you check them.

I just think that we need to do better jobs at parenting and not use things like a leash when we should be holding our kids hands and teaching them how to behave in public places. My daughter is 9 now and that's what I did with her. I took every opportunity I could to teach her the dangers of running off and I taught her manners in public. I wasn't afraid to discipline her in public either. Time outs are always an option, even in public.

I just think there is a better way to deal with our toddlers than leashes. :)

I HAVE used one.. and I am not embrassed to admit it. My son has Autism. He often wanders off. He is 3.. We used ours in the airport and on vacation. My son HATES the stroller.. and will not use it and I have a 5 year old and a one year old also. My one year old will ride in a stroller and I push her in it..but my son perfers to walk.. and I CAN not stand our double stroller as it is too big and bulky to steer around most places.. so the harness works wonders for us.

Kai can walk on his own.. and see what he wants, but I can keep a hold of him so he can not wander off and get lost.. or get out of reach. For me, I find it the responsible thing to do in my situation . As without the leash, my son is likely to wander off.. and freak out in a large group setting. and trust me, there is nothing worse then a 3 year old Autistic child freaking out..

Hope that makes sense?
